FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Spaverin tablets act on smooth muscle spasms, which are involuntary contractions of the muscles that control our internal organs (e.g. stomach, intestines, kidneys, gallbladder, urethra, urinary bladder and uterus).
Spaverin antispasmodic tablets are only effective in treating smooth muscle spasms. They do not relieve cramps in skeletal muscles responsible for movement, such as the calf muscles.
No clinical studies have been conducted with drotaverine in case of children.
Spaverin 80 mg tablets may only be taken by children over 12 years of age.
For children over 12 years of age, the maximum daily dose is 2 tablets (160 mg), divided into 2 doses.
Spaverin 40 mg tablets
For children aged 6–12 years, 2 tablets (80 mg) may be given daily, divided into 2 doses.
For children over 12 years of age, 4 tablets (160 mg) may be given daily, divided into 2–4 doses.
